GeoAct Pulse

Volcano monitoring

See how Pulse displays volcano updates and current Japan-only volcano coverage.

Pulse combines volcano updates with the earthquake timeline so you can review both event types in one monitoring surface. Volcano entries use triangular markers, separate level filters, and localized display text for ash and advisory details where available.

Current volcano coverage is based on Japan data. Global volcano monitoring is planned later and is not yet available in Pulse.

Volcano levels

Pulse supports a dedicated volcano level filter so low-level and higher-level volcano updates can be separated.

Triangle markers

Volcano events are rendered with triangle icons so they remain visually distinct from earthquake circles and points.

Ash and advisory text

Where the source provides it, Pulse surfaces ash information, update type, and next advisory timing in the UI.

Shared timeline

Volcano updates and earthquake events can be displayed together in the same Pulse log or filtered separately.

What the current volcano feed means

Because the volcano source is currently limited to Japan, Pulse should not be read as a full global volcano monitor yet. Earthquake coverage is global, while volcano coverage is partial and clearly labeled until more sources are integrated.

  • Use volcano filters when you want to focus only on volcano-related updates.
  • Read the volcano label text carefully to understand source limitations.
  • Expect future expansion when additional global volcano sources are added.
