GeoAct Pulse

About Pulse

Pulse is a live geophysical monitoring web app focused on earthquakes and volcanoes.

Pulse is built to make live event monitoring operationally clear. It combines a globe-based map, searchable logs, historical browsing, event thresholds, alert controls, and location-aware warning features in one monitoring surface.

Earthquakes

Pulse monitors live earthquake activity with globe markers, logs, thresholds, and focused event views.

Volcanoes

Pulse also surfaces volcano updates with separate iconography and filter controls.

History mode

Switch from live monitoring to past dates to review earlier earthquake and volcano activity windows.

Alerts

Pulse supports browser notifications, push capability, alarm sounds, and location-aware alerting logic.

Current scope and next steps

Pulse currently provides global earthquake monitoring and partial volcano monitoring. The volcano feed shown in the app is currently based on Japan data, and broader global volcano monitoring is planned for a future expansion.

  • Live globe tracking for recent events.
  • Date-based historical browsing for past activity.
  • Alert and notification controls with de-duplication logic.
  • Japan-only volcano feed for now, with global expansion planned later.
